Teisha Hyman made history on Sunday against Central Connecticut State when she became the fifth-ever Syracuse women’s basketball player to record a triple-double. With 11 steals, she set a program record and was just two rebounds away from a quadruple-double, too. And on Monday, Hyman was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, the first time in her career she’s earned that award.

Hyman averaged 24.3 points per game and 8 assists per game in the Orange’s three wins last week, including leading all scorers with 30 points in SU’s upset win over then-No. 18 Ohio State. She also averaged 4.3 steals and five rebounds in the three games.

Acting head coach Vonn Read has consistently praised Hyman’s performances throughout the early portion of the season, saying he’s been happy that the guard is finally able to showcase her talents after suffering her second torn ACL last season.

“Before the season, I was just going to be excited to see Teisha be able to play some minutes and be able to display her game,” Read said. “She’s a very talented scorer. She can do a lot of things other girls can’t.”

Hyman is the first Syracuse player to earn the conference honor this season.
